Venus with cupid, boat and fishermen putti
Oil on canvas, cm. 50 x 98 - with frame cm. 64 x 112
Gilded, carved and sculpted wooden box frame
Expertise by Ugo Ruggeri
The narrative of our canvas opens in a delightful and serene marine scene in which Venus, gently lying in the foreground, elegantly extends her hand to a graceful cupid. In the background we find a group of fishermen intent on setting out to sea with their boat. The work has been attributed with certainty to the hand of Gaspare Diziani, a fine painter and protagonist of the eighteenth-century lagoon artistic panorama.
