Daniel Seiter (Vienna, 1642 or 1647 - Turin, 1705) was an Austrian Baroque painter who worked and trained in Italy. During his training he apprenticed in Venice with Johann Carl Loth (1632 - 1698), a German Baroque painter. He subsequently moved to Rome, where he worked in the studio of Carlo Maratta (1625 - 1713), an Italian painter. During his stay in Rome he joined a society, the Bentvueghels, which brings together Dutch and Flemish artists, mostly active in Rome. His time in Rome brought him great success, and in 1675 he was commissioned to decorate the Royal Palace in Turin, Italy. One of his works, Diana next to the corpse of Orion , 1685, is exhibited in the Louvre in Paris.
