Publications: FM Ferro, M. Dell'Omo, Filippo Abbiati, director of the baroque in Lombardy , Novara, 2018, pp. 139, 249.

The wonderful canvas in question depicts the biblical scene of Solomon who, now elderly, begins to incense pagan idols to please his wives, thus violating the first commandment of the Decalogue. The painting was originally executed by Abbiati for the Gibellini family, among whom the painting was still remembered in the 2018 monograph. The high qualitative profile of the work allows us to endorse the full attribution of the painting to Abbiati, while the prestigious and intact collecting history makes this canvas an example of absolute artistic prestige.
